ARTISTS BIO / DANCE{0}

JudithSanchez Ruiz is the Artistic Director of JSR Company.. She was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. She has worked with David Zambrano, and Trisha Brown Company, among others. Her work has been show nationally and internationally. She has also developed various collaborative projects with innovative composers Henry Threadgill, and Steve Coleman; as well as visual artists; Stephen Talasnik, Sun K Kwak, Kentaro Ishihara, Jonathan Cramer, Burt Barr, Daniel Arsham, and Photographer Anna Lee Campbell. She was awarded “Mujeres Destacadas (Outstanding Women) 2008” by the Spanish newspaper El Diario. She was also selected by Dance Magazine as one of the 25 Dancers to Watch in 2010.

Ian Trask is a Brooklyn based emerging artist making the career transition from science to art. As a sculptor who explores the inherent aesthetics of material waste and found objects, Ian found a temporary home at The Invisible Dog as the art center’s first artist-in-residence. John McGrew is a Brooklyn-based singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and frontman of the critically-acclaimed indie rock trio Apollo Run. Recently, McGrew has performed his original compositions with artist Jack Ferver at DTW, Danspace Project, La Mama, DNA, and Colleen Thomas and the Zenon Dance Company in Minneapolis. www.johnmcgrewmusic.com and www.apollorun.com

Simon Wehrli (Switzerland) studied at Scuola Teatro Dimitri (CH, BA in the Arts of Physical Theatre) and at Laban School for contemporary dance in London (UK, Diploma in Dance Studies). He collaborates as dancer, actor and musician in different projects  in Europe and the USA. As part of the Swiss-based movementheatre collective Spettatori and of the dance-improvisation project 50collective he tours internationally. In 2010 he was selected to participate in 50 days of flying low and passing through Costa Rica led by David Zambrano. Along his work as performer Simon teaches and taught dance and improvisation at Laban (London, UK), Scuola Teatro Dimitri (Verscio, CH), Dance New Amsterdam NYC (USA), Lou Conte Studio Chicago (US), Lisarco Danza (Madrid, ES) and other places.

Simon Courchel is native of Paris and he studied dance at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He worked  with  Carolee Schneeman, Michel Kelemenis, Lucinda Childs, Ashley Page, Karole Armitage, Yuval Pick, Terro Saarinen, William Forsythe, Francois Raffinot, Katharina Christl, Jean Claude Gallota, Russel Malliphant, Frederic Flamand and Bud Blumenthal, touring internationally. Simon is based in Brooklyn since july 2010, works  with Judith Sanchez Ruiz, Yanira Castro and Paul-André Fortier(Montréal) and he is photographer and dance curator at The Invisible Dog Art Center.
