The Invisible Dog has grown – and it’s all thanks to you. Since we opened two years ago, we have had an enormous audience attend our visual art exhibitions, dance, theater, and music performances; film screenings; literature and poetry readings; lectures; community events; and more. Now we are reaching out to you, our loyal friends and supporters, to launch our first-ever fundraising campaign because we want to sustain this growth and achieve even greater success in the future.
Our mission from the beginning has been to create not only a new kind of art center, but also a new kind of community center. We’ve hosted a number of community organizations and local public schools. PS 59, PS 261, PS29 each had their spring benefit in our space. The Brooklyn Heights Montessori School chose the Invisible Dog as the site for its fall theater performance. The diverse events produced and presented by the Invisible Dog have continuously attracted a wide variety of audiences from the local community as well. Prana by Chris Klapper, Camera Locus by Julien Gardair, and the first ever American solo exhibition of South Korean Artist (and Invisible Dog artist-in-residence) Chong Gon Byun’s 30 year career all attracted audiences young and old, from a few blocks down Bergen Street to several miles north in the Bronx. We have truly become an epicenter for the arts in our neighborhood, and in the next year we’re planning to give our community even more opportunities to interact with artists and the arts in our space.
Your support will help us continue to support and value our artists by providing them with subsidized studio, performance and exhibition space. We will continue to present innovative, multi-disciplinary programming that builds bridges between artistic media, and in the next year, we’ll bring you more site-specific and commissioned performances and installations – presentations that you will only be able to see at The Invisible Dog. We pledge to grow our art center and continue to serve our artistic community in the years to come.
We are grateful for any amount that you are able to give. All donations are 100% tax-deductible though our fiscal sponsor, The Field.* To donate, please click here
