FRIDAY JUNE 19, 7.30PM – The People Movers Present: CRAWL: Chapter 3. CRAWL introduces a unique and contemporary model for arts presentation in New York City. Taking place in four distinct venues in various neighborhoods across the city, each production features two emerging choreographers as well as a third artistic act. CRAWL events demonstrate the skill, creativity, and diversity of the emerging generation of artistic work in NYC. The shows also directly engage with the neighborhoods they take place in through partnerships with local businesses. Each CRAWL includes a party, giving our audiences and artists a chance to meet each other, discuss the work, and build relationships around their communal experience.

AMERICAN AUTO EDGE BODY SHOP BEAUTY
by Grace Courvoisier & Dancers
American Auto Edge Body Shop Beauty explores the relationship between two women born and raised in the United States as a part of the Millennial generation. The girls understand the sacrifices that have been made by the women before them; however, being born into a world full of technological, political, and societal advancements, are too lazy to now engage with the myriad of freedoms at their feet. With such an abundance of opportunity for women in this country, the two females use their voice and movement to showcase a struggle between each other, what they should do, and what they shouldn’t do.
NOT SO SHINY
by The People Movers
Not So Shiny is a critical look at our culture’s ideas about success, steeped in hipster irony and disillusionment. The work reflects the frustrations, aspirations, and self-awareness of three twenty-something artists living in New York as they grapple with the build-up of opportunity and the disappointment of stagnancy.
