SATURDAY APRIL 13 / Closing Party from 6 to 9pm Performance at 7 and 8.30pm / Handmade Frames by Ryan Frank / These Specific Points is a site-specific movement that will be performed at the closing reception of Handmade Frames, a solo exhibition at the Invisible Dog Art Center by visual artist Ryan Frank. The piece was commissioned to interact both specifically and abstractly with the exhibit, and features performances by Ryan Frank and Brighid Greene with choreography by Katie Rose McLaughlin.
Katie Rose McLaughlin is a ballet dancer turned choreographer interested in blurring the lines between dance and theatre. She has also created origional choreography for various theatrical productions including LADY HAN (dir. Katherine Brook), VICTOR FRANGE PRESENTS GAS! (dir. Sarah Krohn), DUKUS (dir. Jessie Mills), THE TEMP (dir. Brian Kelly), BENEATH (dir. Marya Spring Cordes), HONK! (dir. Cory Sigler), and NO CORRECT DANCERS in collaboration with Dan O’Neil & Joshua William Gelb presented by Chashama. Her own choreography has been presented by Movement Research at Judson Church, CATCH, Dixon Place, Little Theater, AUNTS, Dance New Amsterdam, Outlet Dance Project, Triskelion, 9×22 DanceLab, Links Hall, Red Eye Theater, Kelly Strayhorn Theater and the International Festival of Art & Ideas. Brighid Greene, a native to the golden state, is a NYC based dancer. She’s performed in music videos such as Zola Jesus’ “Seekir” and Friend Roulette’s “On Her Own Tonight.” Recent performances include “Lady Han” at Incubator Arts Space directed by Katherine Brook and “No Correct Dancers” at Chasama directed by Dan O’Neil, Katie Rose McLaughlin, and Joshua William Gelb. She’s dancing with Katie Rose McLaughlin and Alissa Horowitz on current projects slated for the spring and fall. Past performances include Wave Rising Series, Performa 11, and Szene Salzburg in Austria, and shows at La Mama, Judson Church, and The Merce Cunningham Studios. Working extensively in film, she is Communications Associate at Dance Films Association, which co-presents the annual Dance on Camera Festival with the Film Society of Lincoln Center. She champions for dance by serving on the Dance/NYC Junior Committee. Brighid received a BFA in Dance and a double major in Religious Studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and graduated with the J.S. Seidman Award. www.brighidgreene.com
Ryan Frank is an artist and curator based in Brooklyn, NY and Sharon, CT. He’s exhibited his work at venues including Recession Art, the Invisible Dog, the Re Institute, 112 Greene Street, and the DUMBO Art Under the Bridge Festival. From 2010-11 he was an artist-in-residence at the Wassaic Project and since 2012 he’s overseen art installation for the organization. Recent curatorial projects include Ode Hotel at the Wassaic Project, Used Books at the Winkleman Gallery Curatorial Research Lab, and Reflective Landscape at the Granary, a private exhibition space in Litchfield County, CT.
