In my work, I employ a multidisciplinary approach that mixes new technologies with traditional techniques to create images that defy typical modes of perception. The portraits I create are fragmented, yet question the body as a whole and represent what I find myself conscious of: an array of perceptions, sensitivities, biases, and concerns. By distorting and deconstructing the body, I attempt to go beyond the immediacy of its physical nature to reveal a less obvious connection between it and the mind. This process allows me to isolate a record of emotions, expressions, and symbols that address fundamentals of the human ability to communicate, and in turn manipulate them to challenge an audience’s point-of-view.
