OBLIQUE STRATEGIES – THE ARTISTS OF THE INVISIBLE DOG{0}

MAY 12 – 17 – OLBIQUE STRATEGIES – THE ARTISTS OF THE INVISIBLE DOG – Part of The Invisible Dog’s annual exhibition of its 23 resident artists, Oblique Strategies highlights what inspires the creative process. Each installation showcases these inspirations alongside the final artwork they prompted, offering viewers insight into the artistic process. As Lawrence Weiner describes it, “If you understand the work, you own it.”

Whether the works and their influences are directly connected or strangely dissociated, Oblique Strategies culminates in an eclectic display of the stories that drive the artists of The Invisible Dog.

Oblique Strategies is named after Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt’s 1975 deck of cards intended to help artists through creative blocks by offering aphorisms such as, “Don’t be afraid of things because they are easy to do” and “Remove specifics and convert to ambiguities”.
