Following performances in Munich and Ankara, “breath, song” offers a captivating evening of mesmerizing vocals, electronic loops and sensuous Japanese bamboo flute, united as breath becomes song. Featuring the Turkish multi-faceted vocalist Nihan Devecioglu and performer/composer Jeffrey Lependorf playing shakuhachi, the performance moves between improvisation and composed works, and includes settings of poet Matthea Harvey’s In Defense of our Overgrown Garden and Muriel Rukeyser’s The Long Body from Waterlily Fire, both US premieres.
