Lucien Zayan was born in 1965 in Marseille, France
Lucien Zayan is a cultural producer and director with a rich history of contributions to the arts and cultural institutions. His career has spanned various roles in cultural organizations across France, Egypt and the United States.
Zayan's journey in the cultural sphere began in 1988 when he served as a Cultural Assistat at the French Institute in Alexandria, Egypt, under the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in Egypt. This early experience laid the foundation for his commitment to fostering cultural exchange and collaboration.
From 1990 to 1995, Zayan took on the role of Director of Marketing, Development and Public Relations at Odéon – Théatre de l’Europe in Paris, where he played a key role in shaping the theater's public image, engagement strategies and fundraising operations.
Continuing his trajectory, Zayan served as the General Secretary at the National Theater of La Criée in Marseille from 1995 to 1996. His dedication to the arts community led him to take on the role of General Secretary at the International Dance Festival in Marseille from 1996 to 1998, followed by Deputy General Secretary at the International Festival of Opera and Music in Aix-en-Provence from 1998 to 2000.
In 2000, Zayan assumed the position of Director of Cultural Partnership at Divento – Vivendi Universal in Paris, expanding his influence and involvement in the cultural sector. From 2003 to 2006, Zayan served as the General Secretary at Théâtre de la Madeleine in Paris. Then he became Deputy Director at the International Dance Festival in Marseille from 2006 to 2008,
In 2009, Lucien Zayan embarked on a new and distinctive venture by founding The Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn, New York. As the Founder Director, he established a dynamic and innovative space that has become a hub for contemporary art, fostering creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration. Lucien Zayan's career reflects a lifelong commitment to the promotion and development of cultural initiatives.
In 2019, Zayan introduced La Salle A Manger, (instagram) a private dining room dedicated to hosting intimate and sophisticated dinner gatherings for artists, supporters, donors, and more. This innovative addition reflects Zayan's commitment to creating a space that goes beyond traditional art venues, fostering connections and collaboration among diverse creative communities.
