The Joyce moves beyond its Chelsea walls with JOYCE UNLEASHED, engagements designed to give audiences the chance to see cutting-edge artists performing in intimate spaces.
SuperGroup
Blurring the boundaries between dance, theater, and performance art, the Minneapolis-based SuperGroup makes its New York debut with The Tent Has Been Pulled Down, an evening-length work featuring the collective’s three artists. Pregnant with contradictions, the piece unfolds in a world of text, sound, and evolving movement scores.
Laurie Berg
Laurie Berg’s choreographic work is notable for its “rigor of timing and physical synchronization” (The New York Times) within idiosyncratic narratives. In The Afterlife, she focuses on the concept of celebrity. Boundaries between high art and cult-pop-culture dissolve as ghosts of established performance icons transform into agents of active impulse.
The Afterlife contains nudity.
