Twenty million adult Americans make art. Only two million earn their primary income from their practice. Should anyone in America expect to make a living as an artist? Talk participants will be asked to reveal how they identify on the artistic spectrum. This group of amateur, professional and non-artists will question the lines between these identities as they relate to creative expression. Is the appraisal based on a matter of skill, commercialism, dedication, self-identification and/or training?
Who gets to be an artist? And who decides which are professionals? Join Caleb Hammons in this open interrogation.
“Other Pursuits” holds 50 people and is co-presented by Elastic City and The Invisible Dog Art Center.
