TheaterMatters, the unique live-theater-review series curated and moderated by Hunter College Theater Professor Jonathan Kalb, moves to The Invisible Dog!
A one-of-a-kind event in NYC, TheaterMatters brings together professional critics and practicing theater artists for incomparably smart, passionate, in-depth discussions of current New York City theater productions in front of a live audience. TheaterMatters is the only forum where critics and artists collaborate on serious critique of new work, and the only vehicle for criticism practiced as a live, communal event. The panels include Q&A with the audience and are recorded for web posting.
The October 1 panel is:
Jonathan Kalb, Curator and Moderator (author, scholar, critic, 2-time winner of the George Jean Nathan Award for Dramatic Criticism)
Alexis Soloski (Theater Critic for New York Times and The Guardian and a contributor to The New Yorker)
David Cote (Theater critic and reporter for The Observer, American Theatre, What Should We Do?! and other publications)
Lee Sunday Evans (Obie Award-winning director and choreographer of Dance Nation, [Porto], HOME, Farmhouse/Whorehouse, Bull in a China Shop, Caught, and many other plays)
These panelists will discuss:
Bernhardt/Hamlet, by Theresa Rebeck—a Broadway production at American Airlines Theater
and
What the Constitution Means to Me, by Heidi Schreck—an Off-Broadway production at New York Theater Workshop
