The Invisible Dog is pleased to welcome back Lab/ Shul for Sabbath Queen.
Join for a monthly ritual Sabbath circle of live musical liturgy, poetic and contemplative offerings along with great conversation. Led by the Lab/Shul Ritual Team and beloved collaborators, artists, teachers, healers, and musicians, our season of 2024-25 / 5785 Sabbath Queens will take place in person in the West Village and in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn, as well as online.
Special for November 1, Lab/Shul will be partnering with UJA – Federation of NY to uniquely extend “Shabbat of Welcoming” to a broad range of unaffiliated Jews, interfaith families, young adults, and those exploring their Jewish identity in light of recent antisemitic incidents and a desire for community solidarity. Teachings and conversations will connect to Lab/Shul’s theme for 5785: L’Negdi Tamid/Face to Face/Forever Now – in hopes of inspiring moments of meeting one another face-to face and seeing each other in the divine presence, especially during times of polarization and dehumanization. By aligning this program with our 5785 theme, we are creating a long-year invitation for the community to lean into love and solidarity.
Together, we will provide a communal space where individuals can connect, reflect, and explore their Jewish identity over Shabbat dinner, led by skilled facilitators using a carefully curated conversation guide. The guide will be inspired by Lab/Shul’s new “ShaBook”, which provides a hands-on guide to re-imagining Shabbat rituals towards increased love and peace.
As always, the Sabbath Queen ritual opens with Happy Hour and ends with a catered Community Feast. Come for the Sabbath Queen, stay for the Sabbath glow.
