The Taking Care Emergency Fund for Artists (TCF)
Anne Mourier is an artist at the Invisible Dog Art Center. Taking Care has been the main theme of her work for the past three years. It all started with a performance during the Invisible Dog Open Studios weekend in 2017: Taking Care: the Laundry, which was also presented in September 2017 at the Brooklyn Central Library and again at Governors Island LMCC in October 2019. This theme evolved into a new series called Taking Care Dinner at la Salle A Manger (SAM) and was also portrayed in a series of photographs titled Equilibrium.
What was begun initially as an incentive to open our hearts to the beauty of small gestures has now become a priority. Mourier’s idea that small, everyday actions can have a big impact is quickly becoming a necessary change in our society.
“When enough attitudes and behaviors change, the world we experience will change too” — Carol S.Pearson
Mourier has started a fund of $3,000.00 to help other artists in urgent need during the crisis of the COVID-19: The Taking Care Fund (TCF).
