Anne Mourier is a conceptual artist. Her work speaks about the Feminine archetype often associated with “Mother Earth”.  The ground, the soil, the roots, the womb, nurturing are at the center of her interest and research.

Our direct and physical connection to the soil is essentially through our feet.

Earth needs healing. We need healing.  Our connection to the earth needs healing.  The artist is proposing to wash and massage your feet in warm water (another symbol associated with the Feminine) and Marseille soap in a compassionate gesture.  She would like to discuss your feminine side, taking care and our relation to Earth with you.

“If the head, above, recapitulates the whole body, the feet, below, do the same and are bearers of its potential “becoming.” – Annick de Souzenelle

About Anne Mourier
I started training for what I do as an artist when I was a little girl by taking care of others in the confinement of home.

I developed my senses through the smell of the Marseille soap and lavender during laundry, my touch and attention to detail through long sessions of embroidery or knitting on Sundays, my appreciation for colors through pairing dishes and napkins.

Then I took care of three children for 20 years.

When they left home, I reflected on my experience and my immersion in motherhood and realized that the world of careers and materialistic goals didn’t recognize its value.  This struck me as an imbalance in our culture.

My work had been taking care, and “home” was going to become my palette.  I wanted to remind the world of the beauty found in a delicate pile of folded linen, in an early mending school sample, in a pair of white leather gloves; in communing instead of communicating; in taking care of each other and allowing that idea to permeate everything and reconnect us with our environment.

The world is missing a mother. It is the Vesica Piscis—the marriage of the triangle and the circle. To me, and according to the principle “as above, so below”, this balance is sacred and what we call harmony and beauty.
